Staycationing in Orlando

Orlando is a popular vacation destination beloved the world over for its firework-framed bevy of theme parks, resorts, and other attractions. However, for locals like us, it’s easy to take the magic and merriment of our hometown for granted. With world travel limits still in effect, there’s never been a better for our Central Florida natives to rediscover the wonder of the City Beautiful by staycationing in Orlando. Beyond the big theme parks, there’s an incredible world of top-notch resort escapes, exciting entertainment, and delectable dining and drinking waiting for you just off I-4 on International Drive. As we kick off Labor Day weekend, we at Orlando’s Hometown Playground would like to help you make the most of an exciting getaway just down the way!

Appealing Accommodations

A few nights at one of Orlando’s many hotels is the perfect way to put the “stay” in your staycation. With over 500 hotels to its name, O-Town has accommodations that run the gamut of luxury, amenities, accessibility, and price. Personally, we couldn’t recommend better lodging than some of our friends and neighbors here on International Drive. Home to celebrated concepts from Rosen, Hilton, Marriott, Westin, and more, I-Drive resorts are ideally located within walking distance of renowned restaurants, bars, and attractions. With many choice rooms rated below $100 a night, this Labor Day weekend is the perfect time to get out of the house and let somebody else make your bed for a change!  Find the one that’s perfect for you HERE.

Top-of-the-World Entertainment

As out-of-towners head to the big-name theme parks for the holiday, your staycation is a great time to explore some of the Orlando’s best standalone attractions. If you’re feeling the need for speed, put pedal to the medal in a race at Andretti Indoor Karting and Games. Show off some of your bolder strokes at Top Golf and enjoy all the fun of the open links with refreshing AC. The weirdoes in your party (there’s always one) might enjoy ogling some of the brain-tickling oddities at WonderWorks Orlando. Of course, no Orlando staycation is complete without a visit to your friends here at ICON Park, where you take flight on the The Wheel, snap a selfie with the stars at Madame Tussauds Orlando, or explore ocean depths at SEA LIFE Orlando Aquarium. Believe us, these are no Mickey Mouse attractions!

Excellent Eats and Bumping Beats

Orlando has no shortage of KILLER restaurants, and most locals know that the ideal time to indulge in their favorites is during Magical Dining. Just in time for your Labor Day staycation, the season of yumminess offers diners major discounts on signature dishes at top Orlando eateries including ICON Park’s very own Tapa Toro. Check out the full list of participating restaurants HERE! If your hometown getaway is kid-free, be sure to save room after dinner for a healthy helping of hip beats at some of Orlando’s trendiest night spots. From the incomparably cool ICEBAR Orlando to hotspots like Tin Roof and the all new Ole Red, there’s fist-bumping frivolity of every temperature on hand. The sun never sets on a great night in the City Beautiful, so come ready for late nights and even later mornings. After all, it’s staycation!

Beyond its exciting attractions and top-notch entertainment, Orlando is known for its winning hospitality. In our opinion, nobody is more deserving of that star treatment than the people who live here and work to make this place the City Beautiful. So, treat yourself by staycationing in Orlando, and be sure to pay us a visit here at ICON Park, Orlando’s Hometown Playground. You deserve it!
